Map products to disciplines

A portfolio decision should begin with deliverables and collaboration boundaries. AutoCAD supports broad documentation and DWG workflows; Revit focuses on coordinated building information modelling; Civil 3D addresses model-based infrastructure; Inventor and Fusion support different mechanical and manufacturing needs.

Avoid licence-led architecture

Collections may simplify procurement, but access alone does not define a working process. Document which application owns each model, how information moves between teams and which formats are contractual.

Plan common data practices

Agree project coordinates, naming, version control, approvals and exchange checkpoints. Test cloud services against security, availability and external collaboration requirements before making them mandatory.

Review the portfolio periodically

Usage, project mix and vendor packaging change. Measure adoption and business outcomes, retire redundant workflows carefully and verify current product terms with Autodesk or an authorised partner.
